Furniture and more...
preparations are being made for the exhibition to be
held from 21st September to October 6th at the ex-Perfosfati
chemical factory in Cerea, at the heart of Verona's
furniture making district.
year marks the 47th edition of the fair dedicated to the
Antique Reproduction sector and the 27th edition of the
Antiques fair. The organisers of the "Mobili d'arte
in stile e d'antiquariato" (Handcrafted Period
Furniture and Antiques Foundation) have been working hard
on this years edition to come up with some original ideas
to capture the attention of visitors to the fair ( who
may come to completely refurbish or to purchase a single
piece of furniture), but also to see up close other kinds
of handcrafts other than furniture.
An area of 500 metres squared, will host the work of about
seventy craftsmen who have created beautiful objects for
made an agreement with the local creative Artisans club
at Villa Gritti - explained a spokesperson of the
Foundation - so that there would be a solid representation
of local crafts at the event. Craftwork in terracotta,
floral compositions, artistic glass and ceramic craft,
gold work, decoration and inlay work in wood. Not to be
missed either, wrought iron craftwork and marble mosaic
and inlay work. In this way we have tried to attract the
visitor who is not only interested in furniture but is
also interested in things related to home interiors".
venue for the exhibition, is the old Perfosfati chemical
factory, completely refurbished in red brick work. At
this year's edition, the visitor can also visit the Museo
Civico dell'Artigianato del Legno, a permanent museum
located in the ex-factory works, showing the tools that
were used by past craftsmen to make furniture.
"On this occasion and during all of the fair -
explains the secretary - visitors can touch and handle
the tools which were used at the time to reproduce the
antique furniture pieces. The fair covers an area of six
thousand metres squared with a third oval area, smaller
in size which has recently been refurbished.".
fair has been divided into areas sufficient in size to
give ample room for both the exhibitors at the stands,
and for visitors passing by, avoiding overcrowding when
thousands of visitors arrive at the weekend. In fact ample
walkways have been created.
At the Museum
"Artigianato del Legno"
grand oval area will host the antiques sector -
explained one of the organisers - while the other
two areas, will show the work of firms who make period
reproduction furniture and the creative work of the
exhibition, after its inauguration ceremony, can be
visited on three weekends: Saturday 21st and Sunday
22nd September, the following Saturday and Sunday (28th
and 29th September) and finally Saturday 5th and Sunday
6th October from 9.30am to 8pm.
